About Hillel...
As president and founder of Korin Development
Associates, Hillel Korin has more than 30 years experience
in the fundraising – resource development field some
of the organizations and institutions that have benefited
from his expertise include; The Partnership for Excellence
in Jewish Education, Brandeis University in Waltham Massachusetts,
and The Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston,
The Boys and Girls Club of Waltham and The New England Aquarium.
While at Brandeis, his leadership and
relationship building skills secured the funding for several
fully endowed chairs with gifts in excess of 2 million dollars.
Using his insight and knowledge of the local and national
communities, he created the plan for The President’s
Council on Athletics. He staffed; The Fellows of the University,
The Cohen Center for Modern Jewish Studies and The Fisher
Bernstein Institute for Leadership Development and Philanthropy.
Korin developed programs to cultivate and engage many of the
University’s earliest families. While managing the Annual
Fund he instituted The Annual Fund Scholars Program to provide
alumni and friends of the University with opportunities to
support student scholars annually.
As Vice President of Development for
the Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston, Boston’s
Jewish Federation he personally solicited gifts in excess
of a million dollars. This included gifts for naming opportunities
at the Jewish Community Campus. In his career at the Jewish
Federation Korin frequently was asked to consult to other
communities on the development and structuring of annual campaign
programs and solicitor development models. In addition, he
also consulted to many communities as they developed community
capital campaigns. During his tenure at CJP Korin served as
the Chair of The Campaign Director’s Institute and was
recognized by his peers as an outstanding professional when
he was awarded The Vivian Rabineau Memorial Award for outstanding
accomplishments and service to the field.
At CJP, Korin managed a staff that numbered
more 20 professionals and more than 15 in support. Korin developed
many innovative donor solicitation concepts that became the
model for resource development programs in the Federation
field. Korin regularly designed and led board solicitation
and training programs in support of the community’s
annual campaign. Highlighting his years as the Federation’s
Chief Development Officer, Korin led the community to annual
campaign growth that exceeded expectations. Korin has also
had significant experience as a consultant.
He successfully developed a specialized
resource development delivery program for The Partnership
for Excellence in Jewish Education (PEJE). Working with a
national pool of resource development experts Korin and PEJE
designed a series of diagnostic tools and exercises to help
day schools assess the current state of their development
programs and to assist in the creation and implementation
of resource development plans. While working with PEJE and
a national network of day schools throughout the United States
he regularly assisted schools in capacity assessment, comprehensive
development planning, and engagement of development counsel.
He is frequently called upon to assist day schools in the
assessment of board capacity and campaign readiness by designing
and conducting development audits and campaign feasibility
studies.
Korin is a mentor and developer of well-trained
and accomplished staff. Resource Development professionals
trained by Korin now hold senior level development positions
in communities and organizations throughout the country including;
The Jewish Federation of St. Louis, Jewish Family and Children’s
Service of Greater Boston, Hadassah, The Rashi School and
the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia to name just
a few.
Mr. Korin received his undergraduate
degree from Brandeis University in 1972 where he majored in
history and was instrumental in the development of the Friends
of Brandeis Athletics and the growth of the Brandeis Hillel
Foundation. He received his graduate degree from the Hebrew
