The Institute for Business and Professional Ethics was established in 1985 by a joint effort of the Colleges of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Commerce at DePaul University. The mission of the IBPE is to encourage ethical deliberation in decision makers by stirring the moral conscience and imagination. Their objective is to provide a forum for exploring and furthering ethical practices in organizations. IBPE provides ethics-related programming and conferences, lecture series, on-site training, discussion, and written and electronic publications. The Institute is a partner with the Philosophy Department's Center for Human Values, which serves as a focal point of its PhD program. In addition, the Institute supports, facilitates, or coordinates a number of programs each year that seek to serve the goal of their mission.

Its Web site is quite comprehensive, including the following resources concerning ethics issues: bibliographies, professional resources, papers, a calendar, court decisions.
